aishahmokhtar:

My heart swells with love when I learned that everytime you recites the Al-Fatihah during prayers Allah replies you back.

When we say ‘Iyyaka na budu wa iyyaka nasta in’ (It is You we worship and You we ask for help.),

He says: ‘This is between Me and My servant, and My servant shall have what he has asked for.’

And when we say: ‘Ihdina s-sirata l- mustaqim, siratal ladhina an amta alayhim ghayril-maghdubi alayhim wa la d-dallin’ (Guide us to the straight path, The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray.),

He says: ‘This is for My servant, and My servant shall have what he has asked for.’”

Allah said TWICE “My servant shall have what he asked for” and we recite this 17 times a day. Isn’t that just beautiful?

""Thank you" I answered, unsure of the proper American response to her gracious enthusiasm. In the Arab world, gratitude is a language unto itself, "May Allah bless the hands that give me this gift"; "Beauty is in your eyes that find me pretty"; "May God extend your life"; "May Allah never deny your prayer"; "May the next meal you cook for us be in celebration of your son’s wedding…of your daughter’s graduation…your mother’s recovery"; and so on, an infinite string of prayerful appreciation. Coming from such a culture, I have always found a mere "thank you" an insufficient expression that makes my voice sound miserly and ungrateful.""

Abu Ali, the old Bookseller on Mutanabbi Street died today on April 10th, 2014.

Anyone who sells books for living and offers the world a window to knowledge deserves a little acknowledgement, so please recite Al-fatiha for him.
